PROCESS FOR PERSONS FILING LEGAL REDRESS COMPLAINTS

 

A.   You may call or arrange to pick up a complaint form if you feel you have been discriminated, harassed, or unfairly treated on the bases of race, sex, religious affiliation, etc. The areas: Housing, employment, public accommodations, law enforcement, judicial system, child custody/support…  

 B.   Complete the complaint form. Attach documentation that may be of assistance to addressing the case.

C.     If there are witnesses, their statements must be on a separate form.

D.    The completed complaint form and all the accompanying statements of witnesses must be notarized.

E.     You may hand deliver or mail the complaint to the NAACP office.

F.     Please allow 2-3 weeks for a response to your concern.

G.     This process does not take the place of you filing with your company, according to its policies; or EEOC, or legal counsel. You are encourages to obtain legal counsel as soon as possible.

H.     The NAACP Legal Redress Committee will forward its recommendations of referral or identify options available to you.

I.      Should your case be enhanced with the NAACP involvement, you may request that the case go before the NAACP Executive Committee for recommendation and approval of further action. It is recommended that your attorney be advised of the request before NAACP action is taken.
